Classroom Support team

The Music Service Classroom Support team is made up of qualified early years, primary and secondary classroom teachers with music as their specialism. Within the team there are three advanced skills teachers.

We provide support in schools with curricular and extra curricular activities and are available for short or long term periods.

Long Term:

Our teachers can provide weekly music provision including planning and preparation of materials for delivery of the music curriculum throughout the school. We adhere to National Curriculum requirements ensuring our lessons are exciting and challenging to all pupils. Our team has a large selection of classroom percussion available for use which can supplement what the school may already have.

Work can be topic based to link with other areas of the curriculum (Vikings, Victorians, Romans etc) or can utilise the suggested QCA units.

Teachers who work in schools on a regular basis will also expect to be involved in school productions and concerts and many of our staff run extra curricular activities such as choirs and after school music clubs.

Short Term:

Teachers are available to run one-off projects in school or involving a group of schools. Examples of events include world music days, vocal extravaganzas, arts festivals, Cornish themed days, and book days.

We can also help teachers to set up choirs and after school clubs in the initial stages.

Help and Advice:

Our three advanced skills teachers can come into school to work with teachers to help them plan and deliver music lessons for their class. This can include demonstration lessons and team teaching. We are able to provide INSET in school for a number of staff or one to one work. We can offer advice on the purchase of books and other appropriate materials for music teaching as well as instruments.
